Census Bureau and Faith Leaders Partner to Reach More Communities
The U.S. Census Bureau announced an Interfaith Partner Summit bringing together faith leaders and community organizations from across the United States to discuss the importance of the 2020 Census. The event was designed to help faith communities encourage people, including individuals and families who may be harder to reach, to participate in the census. The summit also launched awareness efforts for the Faith Communities Census Weekend of Action, scheduled for March 27–29, 2020. Faith leaders from diverse religious traditions were invited to use their trusted relationships within their communities to share information and encourage participation. Among the confirmed speakers was Vikshu Kumar Gurung, founder of the Buddhist Society of Nebraska, alongside leaders representing Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Catholic and other faith communities.
